Are you a meal prepper? Or do you just cook way too much and always have leftovers? Depending on the day, I am both the meal prepper and the over cooker. While scrolling Amazon late at night I came across Rubbermaid food storage containers. I read the reviews and checked out the pictures online. This product seemed like something that I needed for my kitchen, I placed the item in my cart and submitted my order.

Are We Still Impressed?

Fast forward….my Amazon order arrived in the usual two day prime shipping time period. The shipping box was the very common Amazon box that can be found decorating my front porch most days. While unboxing the containers I immediately noticed how these containers felt strong and durable compared to other generic food containers that I had purchased over the years.

The Rubbermaid TakeAlongs were thick and the right snapping lids really stood out as superior to other brands. The true test of there Rubbermaid TakeAlongs would be if they held up from use in the microwave and dishwasher and if the seal on the lids stayed tight and strong over months of usage.

These were multi-purpose food storage and for packing lunches. So, it was important that these fit neatly into the refrigerator but also into everyone’s lunch bags. Now, fit and finish was important but also longevity. Classic gloss black bowl with clear plastic lids really stands out very nice.

First impressions were that these felt nice to the touch and they looked very high quality. These bowls remind me of restaurant left-over containers, only much, much nicer. Both lids and bowls are injection molded polypropylene plastic. They feature an easy snapping lid which is liquid tight. Skid resistant base.

After several months, the lids did become slightly hazy. This was completely expected as acid foods, or varying temperature changes can affect the surface.

We knew these would get beat-up, tossed down, and thrown around. Now, we’ve owned tons of plastic containers in the past, none of which I’d consider buying twice. However, this set has changed my thinking. What has happened? It was like Rubbermaid saw all the problems in the container market and decided to offer a premium product.

Conclusion of the Rubbermaid Food Storage Containers

The Rubbermaid food storage containers range from reheating, freezing, and being dishwasher safe. It is compact for lunchbags and it is BPA free so it scores 4 out of 5.

The complexity is non-existant as this is simply a two piece design and you only need to snap the lid onto the container. You of course need to double check that it snaps tight but the Takealongs are very good at letting you know it is sealed tight so it earns a score of 5 out of 5.

The stacking category is of the usual variety where you put one on top of another. The same goes with the lids however the lids do not connect to the bowls so it receives a score of 4 out of 5.

The durability of the Takealongs is above average in that the bowls have not cracked or chipped. Scratched and mild discoloration of the lids occurred but it has performed very well and we give this a 4 out of 5.

Overall, this bowl set proved to be a great value for the money spent. Performance is above average so we expect these to last more than three years which earns a value score of 5 out of 5.
