Is a Collapsible Laundry Basket A Little More Fun?
Our collapsible laundry basket isn’t the newest addition to our house. But it ran with the other baskets we bought around the same period. We are always rough on laundry baskets. A handle usually breaks, or part of the structure cracks—usually, the bottom cracks or the handle, which renders it useless. However, this basket is different. Keep reading and find out why.
Our First Impressions
Two years ago, we finally found the one: the Camco Collapsible Laundry Basket. It is a lightweight, space saver that folds just over three inches. And, It is easier to carry than a typical basket. The lightweight construction is a result of injection molded PVC and features a semi-soft PVC which is what the collapsible section is made of. It closely mimics a collapsible spaghetti strainer.
Expanding occurs when you hold inside the basket, on a flat surface, and pull up on the handle. Do this on each side and the basket is ready to use. We no longer need to have bulky laundry baskets taking up space on our floor, bed, or wherever. No more laundry baskets hogging up the hallway. This will fit behind an open bedroom door, under a bed, or anywhere that has a few inches of space. It has proven that it is capable of serving a purpose and saving space.
Laundry Baskets Are Everlasting
Durability is important in everything we buy. Our first impressions were not good- it felt different. It seemed too plasticy. There were no fancy rubberized grips and touch surfaces felt hard. We simply did not think this would hold up over time.
It isn’t big or bulky, and we knew that. We didn’t think it would last long because of how small it was and how much abuse we gave our other baskets. But, this has a secret. You already know it collapses, and that’s it. You can drop this basket with laundry, and the soft PVC acts like a shock absorber. It is halfway between a laundry bag and a laundry basket. It’s great.
So, after two years of carrying this up and down stairs, making trips to the car, and using it for more than clothes, we can honestly say that it has earned its value. Usually after a year, I was expecting something to break. But, no, I’m wrong. The handle did pop off, 😂 but I snapped it back on.
Our Opinion
Comfort and ease of carrying a load of laundry are essential since we have to go up and down stairs with the laundry basket. But long-lasting durability is more important. The basket doesn’t have that luxury feeling, but which one does? The size is right to go through doorways, and you’ll not strain yourself carrying too much laundry. In the end, it was a good purchase. It provided us with long-term utility and could go where no other laundry baskets could.
