Cleaning

Time to let those surfaces shine.

Step 3.

Cleaning can be a challenging task to start. Cleaning is highly gratifying – cleaning windows, the bathroom counters, or the microwave. Making things look new and shiny is just incredible. But halfway through, I typically ask myself, why do I procrastinate?

    1. Review your goal again and check out these tips.
      1. What will it take to clean it? Think process and write down simple steps – make it easily understood and in simple language that a second grader can follow.
      2. Assigning roles is usually the first thing people go to when creating processes – who can do it? That’s wrong. Assign someone the job. Create the process without thinking of who but what steps are needed. Then and only then, assign the most capable person for that job.
      3. Turn those steps into a checklist. Make it super simple and limit the time required to perform that task.
      4. Do you need chemicals to clean the toilets, bags, or filters for your vacuum cleaner or microfiber towels for windows? Make a list related to your goal. Again, make that list as sparse as possible. Make a safe spot for the chemical and supplies but make it easy to get to them quickly.
      5. What do you need to fix around the house? Is something cracked or broken, or are you missing a product or shelf label? Now is the time to fix those issues.
