Storage Containers for Snacks
I like the concept of having something that won’t crush your snacks. Going on trips, the kids usually pack their favorites in sandwich baggies. It’s a fun activity they can do, and it helps me. But, It isn’t ideal to use plastic sandwich bags because too much food is packed and then wasted. And what isn’t eaten usually gets tossed out before finished. I chose three snack cups to try out. The criteria were simple – the containers needed to hold a certain amount of various-sized snacks were easy to clean and made of safe materials. We also tested them in backpacks, and they fit in the water bottle holders. So, let us show you which storage containers we chose for our snacking adventures.
For Kids and Maybe Adults 😊
Are you a Harry Potter fan too? You can’t go wrong here, but honestly, I wasn’t a true fan of the color. It was true to the image on Amazon, which is good. But, it grew on me as it was his House colors. I expected the lids to be rubberized for added grip, but it wasn’t. As seen in the pictures, it came with three cups and was accompanied by lids. It held a good quantity of snacks, two 1 cups, and one 1/3 cup. The measurement was spot on, and just enough space to screw on the lid.
I have no complaints except a minor one; stacking the cups on each other wasn’t an issue. The problem was there was little of a click or obvious feedback that the cups were locked. So, I end up repeatedly checking if they are all connected. It isn’t a huge deal, but please be careful about locking it in place when inserted.
It has a removable handle at the top that locks like the cups. I’m still determining why the handle is removable, except you can stack the cups however you want and still attach the handle. Or, you can take it off if you need to fit it inside a lunch box.
Packing snacks without worrying about getting them crushed is an excellent choice. The manufacturer claims this is BPA-free, dishwasher-safe, and freezer safe.
For Gym Goers and The workplace
This was like the Harry Potter organizer, except it came from a different company. The color and material were nice looking, much more for an adult who works in a professional environment or goes to the gym. Also, the cup sizes were different. The cups are in CC (cubic centimeters), typically a European measurement. The larger cup is approximately 1 cup, and the smaller ones are about a quarter; the other is about a third of a cup. Having that extra measured protein shake or mixed nuts for a snack is enough.
Again, I imagined the lids to be rubberized and was disappointed that these were not. I like extra grippy tops like water bottles because they give the impression of quality and are easy to open. But, the lids and cups were hard plastic. It has a removable lid handle and even comes with a small tray holding for, I assume, vitamins and supplements.
The company claims the snack containers are BPA-free and dishwasher-safe. It did not claim if it was freezer safe. As for the cups locking together, it was a much better experience. I could easily twist and feel that positive click which set me at ease, knowing it won’t fall apart.
For everyone – good all around
If you want larger-capacity snack containers, then try this one. My expectations of this were higher than the previous two. Each cup has a gasket that seals in liquids, so you can use it however you wish. That is a good idea if you want a light snack and something to drink – an all-in-one snack break container. Unfortunately, the measurements are in ounces, not cups.
The manufacturer claims these are made of Eastman Tritan, an excellent scratch-resistant plastic. It also means it’s dishwasher safe and can survive extreme cold and hot temperatures (-40 to 100 C degrees). Perfect for sterilizers if you use it for baby formula -premixed or dry. Anyway, I was expecting rubberized lids, and I think it would have been needed on this one.
The seals were doing their job well because my 8-year-old son could not open any lids. He tried for a minute before giving up. I could open it, but it was not smooth at all. It sounded like an old creaky door opening, but this was because of the gasket seal. The seal is coated in this type of goop which I assume is for protection. In any case, wash it off thoroughly before using it. The ability to stack was good. You realize when it’s in place, but the gray bottle doesn’t have that haptic feedback feeling.
Our Opinion
Thinking about our activities, we made a choice and chose BeneLabel Twist-Lock Snack Container. We liked different things about each of these storage containers, but we liked quickly seeing our snacks inside. Each brand has its perks and features, but this one was the best fit for us. Also, it’ll keep things less messy and protect those precious little goldfish from breaking! So, what do you think? Were any of the three snack containers capable of snack duty for you?
